AYSO is governed by five philosophies:

»
Everyone Plays

Our program’s goal is for kids to play soccer—so we mandate that every player on every team must play at least half of every game.

» Balanced Teams

Each year we form new teams as evenly balanced as possible—because it is fair and more fun when teams of equal ability play.

» Open Registration

Our program is open to all children between 4 and 19 years of age who want to register and play soccer. Interest and enthusiasm are the only criteria for playing.

» Positive Coaching

Encouragement of player effort provides for greater enjoyment by the players and ultimately leads to better-skilled and better-motivated players.

» Good Sportsmanship

We strive to create a positive environment based on mutual respect rather than a win-at-all-costs attitude, and our program is designed to instill good sportsmanship in every facet of AYSO.

A new philosophy to be added August 1, 2009.
» Player Development
The goal of Player Development is to embrace the objective of improving the soccer skills and knowledge of every AYSO player, from VIP to U-19.

Did you know:
AYSO is an all-volunteer organization. Coaches, Referees, and Board members are all Moms, Dads, Aunts, Uncles, Grandmas, and Grandpas just like you. Many did not know anything about soccer, when they started, but wanted their child to play so they volunteered to make it happen. Our region, 766, is experiencing a severe shortage of volunteers.
Because we are so short on volunteers, we will be requiring the teams that have the first games of the day to make sure the fields are lined. The paint machines and paint can be found in the little green coaches’ shed. Parents/coaches can line the fields during practice times or any other time that is convenient for them.

Also, we will no longer have trash barrels at the fields. Please have your team/snack parent bring a trash bag to each game and take your trash off the field with you when you leave. The dumpster will still be available for your use.

As you may have noticed, we are extremely short on referees. We hold over 220 games per season and Region 766 has only 7 certified referees; 2 are certified to ref all divisions (U8-U14), 2 are certified to ref U8-U12, and we have 3 youth referees who are certified to ref U8-U10. Seven referees cannot do all of these games.

Region 766 also has several Board positions open. The board meets twice a month during the season and once a month in the off-season. The board is responsible for all things soccer (schedules, uniforms, coaches, referees, fields, etc.) but 5  people cannot make soccer happen for over 300 kids. If you are interested in helping out and having a say in how the organization is run, the following positions are available:

Secretary: Responsible for taking the meeting minutes, scheduling meetings, keeping records of the meetings, etc...

CVPA (Child Volunteer Protection Advocate): responsible for making sure all volunteers are safe haven trained, medical forms, accident reporting.

Field Director: responsible for field and equipment maintenance, field markings, garbage, nets, flags, etc.

Sponsorship/Fund Raising Coordinator: Responsible for organizing fundraisers, getting sponsorships

Volunteer Coordinator: Responsible for organizing volunteers

Safety Director: Responsible for following up on injuries, insurance claims, etc.

Marketing/Events Coordinator: responsible for organizing the parent meeting, team pictures, award ceremony, etc.

Please contact either Laura Karle at 232-1486 or Kim Borse at 230-0317 to volunteer.
